Who Matters? Reason, Season, Lifetime

Who Matters?

There comes a point in

Your life when you realise

Who matters, who never

Did, who won’t anymore,

And who always will. So

Don’t worry about people

From your past, there’s a

Reason why they didn’t

Make it to your future.

Is it your family, loved ones, Friends, neighbours, your self/soul, God? Is ‘who matters’ about your commitment to any or all of these? Is it about the love you feel for others?

Are these the people who have come into your life with the opportunity to impact it in some way by adding value to it, but chose not to influence your life through lack of commitment or whatever?  Therefore, their purpose or connection in your life was not sensed?

Are these the people who, at one point or another, mattered greatly because you were either committed to them or they had a ‘covenant’ (promise) with you and chose ‘not too’ anymore? Those ‘who won’t matter any more’ are not bad people, they have just made the choice not to be ‘who always will matter’ kind of people.

Will the people who have declared a commitment to you always matter? Is it those who have chosen to contribute significantly to your life, who has stuck with you through thick and thin?  Is it those who are a part of my destiny as I am a part of theirs? Will people who have made sacrifices for me/our relationship always matter? Those people who build our trust in them through their words and actions, will they always matter to us?

When we worry about people in our past this distracts us from who we have in the ‘here and now’ and also who we will have in the future.

People who have moved out of our lives due to death are different and don’t apply here – because our loved ones who have moved into the ‘after-life’ are a part of our future, and in our hearts, have already arrived. The discussion here is about people who are still living and haven’t made it to our future because of choice or situations or circumstances. There is truly a reason why some people just don’t make it but those who do make it into your future are meant to be there.

Perhaps the next verse may answer why some people make it into our future and why some don’t, and why some people will always matter to us while others won’t.

A Reason, Season or A Lifetime?

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person…

When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed.

They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support. To aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually, they may seem like a Godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand.

What we must realise is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your time has come to share, grow or learn.

They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh. They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real; but only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation.

Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Every one we meet, all that cross our path are teachers, just as we are teachers for them. Do not scorn your teachers when they bring you upset and pain; remember, you made a sacred contract with them to bring the karmic lesson into your life. What would be the use of reincarnating into a new life together if you were not willing to honour your sacred contracts?  Be willing to forgive ‘let-go’ and be at peace.
